Sakao Matcha

Founded by Reina Sakao, a fourth generation member of her tea house in Japan, Sakao Matcha has more than a century of history in Japanese green tea. Her great-great-grandfather was already exporting Shizuoka tea over a century ago, making it the first Japanese green tea known worldwide. Since then, the family has carried the torch, with each generation adding its own touch.  Reina's grandfather, Takejiro, married Sonoko, the daughter of a Tokyo tea shop owner, blending expertise with passion. Reina’s grandmother took tea ceremonies abroad, passing on a deep appreciation for the craft. That same dedication lives on today Reina is on a mission to share the richness of Japanese tea culture.
